South Korea finances upgrading schools for ethnic minority children in Yen Bai

South Korea will provide non-refundable aid for boarding and semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities in the northern province of Yen Bai, according to a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Ha Noi on April 13.

 Vice Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs Y Thong, Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Province's People's Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Viet Nam Country Director Cho Han Deog inked the MoU. 

The aid, worth US$500,000, offered by the Korean Government via the KOICA, aims to improve education quality of boarding and semi-boarding schools in the locality. 
Addressing the signing ceremony, Minister-Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs Hau A Lenh spoke highly of the aid which would help ethnic minority children get access to better conditions for studying and enrich their knowledge. 
He thanked for the assistance and contributions of the Korean Embassy in Viet Nam and KOICA, expressing his hope that the cooperative ties between the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, the Korean Embassy in Viet Nam and KOICA will be further promoted in the upcoming time.
Under the Viet Nam-South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, South Korea would continue to make significant contributions to the implementation of policies on ethnic minorities in Viet Nam, emphasized Korean Ambassador to Viet Nam Oh Young-ju at the ceremony.
Furthermore, South Korea expects to work with Viet Nam towards comprehensive and sustainable development to fulfill the promise of "leaving no one behind", she added./.
