ADB provides USD 100 million to improve financial sector and SMEs

Governor Nguyen Van Giau of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and Mr. Ayumi Konishi, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Vietnam, signed loan agreements on the Second Small and Medium –sized Enterprises Development Program (second SMEDP) and Sub-program 2 of the third Financial Sector Program with a total value of USD 100 million in Hanoi on December 24.

Sub-program 2 of the third Financial Sector Program focuses on the overall financial stability and the development of the non-bank financial sector, including the securities and bond markets, as well as strengthening rules and regulations to enhance transparency and protecting investors and consumers. The greater scope and efficiency of non- bank financial intermediation channels  will also contribute to  strengthening stability of the financial sector through improving competition and mitigating risks. Therefore, the Program will help diversify and stabilize the financial market, thereby contributing to economic growth.

 The second SMEDP will continue to promote the domestic business environment through the reform of the macro-economic and legal framework, and governance. Moreover, the Program also contributes to improving access to credit and mobilization of  resources in order to surmount difficulties for production of SMEs.
