Both sides will focus on initiatives relating to building capacity and implementing effective energy policies as well as measures to improve energy efficiency in high- energy demand areas of the economy such as the government’s energy projects, the private sector and other related parties in implementing renewal energy projects in Viet Nam.
Speaking at the ceremony, USAID Mission Director Joakim Parker said USAID and MIT will co-operate through a five-year technical assistance program that is expected to result in clean energy development and improved energy efficiency, thereby promoting low-emission development in Viet Nam.
Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung said bilateral cooperation, particularly USAID’s support in the field, will help Viet Nam grow in energy and climate change resilience.
The signing of the LOI will create a foundation for both sides to design and implement co-operative contents and projects in the future, Hung added./.
