The Japanese Government will provide US$344,489 in non-refundable aid to Viet Nam to implement five projects. An agreement to this effect was signed in a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on March.

These projects will be launched in Ho Chi Minh City and three other provinces of Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan and Tra Vinh.

The aid will be used to build kindergartens and water supply systems and purchase equipment for hospitals.

Japan has been the single biggest official provider for Viet Nam over the recent years, said Japanese Consul General Kawaue Junichi.

He went on to say that Japan has coordinated with Viet Nam in realizing a number of projects in such areas as economy, culture, education and transport to directly benefit local people.

The aid is part of the Japanese Government’s program introduced since 1995. The Northeast Asian country has financed as many as 169 projects, worth over US13.5 million in 26 localities in the Southern provinces and cities, mainly in the areas of education, health, agriculture and rural infrastructure./.
