Sibos 2018 opened in Sydney, Australia on October 22, 2018 with more than 7,000 delegates from more than 150 countries around the world. Vietnam has 11 banks participating, with about 30 attendants.
Previously, on October 21, 2018, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, Director General of the SBV Banking Operations Center, attended the meeting of the SWIFT Chairpersons. The meeting discussed issues of much interest of those in the banking sector such as SWIFT Global Payment Innovation Initiative (SWIFT gpi), ISO 20022 in Banking and Finance, and Customer Security Program (CSP).
After the opening session of the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh had a meeting with the representatives of SWIFT. At the meeting, SWIFT spoke highly of the SBV’s role in general and VIETSWIFT in particular in recommending the member banks to complete the self-assessment of the payment systems, as well as to comply with all the CSP requirements. SWIFT also expected the SBV and VIETSWIFT to continue to direct the banks to meet the CSP requirements by the end of 2018, in order to improve the safety and security of their international payment activities.
On the same day, the SBV delegation also had working sessions with some international partners such as the US Federal Reserve, JP Morgan Chase & Co., etc., about the SBV's management of foreign reserves./.
