The Conference was attended by representatives of multilateral development banks, international financial institutions, government agencies, enterprises, research institutes, and experts from 15 countries. Under the theme “Eurasia 2030+: Investment, Growth and New Opportunities”, the event marked the 20th anniversary of the EDB and aimed to promote policy dialogue, strengthen investment connectivity, and expand development cooperation across Eurasia.
The Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) delegation, led by Deputy General Director Bui Van Thong, participated in all key activities of the Annual Meeting and Business Forum.
Speaking at the opening session, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated that Eurasia is emerging as a new engine of global economic growth, with significant potential to attract investment in infrastructure, energy, logistics, digital transformation, and innovation. Amid continuing global economic uncertainties, development finance institutions are expected to play an important role in mobilizing resources, sharing risks, and promoting projects that generate broad impacts on sustainable growth.
As part of the event, more than ten thematic sessions focused on global and regional economic trends; financing for sustainable development; digital transformation; the application of artificial intelligence (AI); logistics infrastructure and trans-Eurasian transport corridors; public-private partnerships (PPP); human resource development; and mechanisms for mobilizing capital for strategic projects.
For VDB, participation in the event provided an important opportunity to update the latest trends in development finance, strengthen exchanges with international financial institutions, and expand its partner network. Through the working sessions and networking activities, the delegation gained valuable international experience in mobilizing medium- and long-term capital, development financing models, and financial solutions for infrastructure, energy, digital transformation, and green growth investments.
The knowledge and experience gained from the Conference will serve as useful references for VDB as it continues to refine its funding mobilization strategy, diversify financial resources, and enhance operational effectiveness to meet future development requirements.
During the mission to Kazakhstan, the VDB delegation also held a cordial meeting with the Ambassador of Viet Nam to Kazakhstan Nguyen Thanh Le and the Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Kazakhstan.
At the meeting, Deputy General Director Bui Van Thong introduced VDB’s functions and responsibilities as the Government’s policy bank and shared the Bank’s orientation toward strengthening international cooperation and expanding relations with financial partners. Representatives of the Vietnamese Association briefed the delegation on the local Vietnamese community, while the Vietnamese Ambassador reaffirmed continued support for VDB in connecting with agencies, organizations, and partners in Kazakhstan to promote cooperation opportunities in line with the Bank’s development orientation.
The mission helped strengthen VDB’s external relations with development finance institutions in the region while opening up further opportunities to access international financial resources in support of development investment, contributing to Viet Nam’s green growth and sustainable development./.
