On the Vietnam side, the Conference had the presences of Vietnam Vice Prime Minister Mr.Vu Van Ninh; Vice Minister of Finance Mr. Tran Xuan Ha; representatives from ministries and agencies, namely: Finance, Planning and Investment, the State Bank, VCCI; leaders of the leading groups, companies, and enterprises in Vietnam.
On the guest side, there were Mr. Pema Tshering - ADFIAP chairman, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta – ADFIAD Secretary General and almost 100 high-level leaders (Presidents, CEOs) of more than 60 international financial organizations from 30 countries and territories in Asia and the Pacific.
The theme of this year annual meeting is: "DFIs and sustainable infrastructure: Policy Framework, Operational Best Practices and Challenges". VDB’s acting Chairman of BoM Mr.Nguyen Quang Dung had greeting statement and Mr.Pema Tshering – ADFIAP chairman had opening remarks.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh stressed: sustainable development has become viewpoint and policy of the State of Vietnam which clearly expressed in the strategy, policy and social-economic development plans of Vietnam branches and localities. Vice PM affirmed: Vietnamese Government sees infrastructure development is a basic condition for the economy. In fact, to support economic growth, many infrastructure projects with large-scale such as highways, airports, seaports etc…are strongly supported by Vietnamese Government. Besides, many environmental protection projects such as investment for the development of clean energy, renewable energy, sewage and garbage, afforestation and forest protection etc ... are being implemented in provinces and cities all over the country. The project completion facilitates economic growth in the region, contributes to improve social security for people as well as expand economic cooperation between Vietnam and countries in the region.
The meeting consisted of many sessions with subjects such as: Policy framework for infrastructure development; Financing sustainable infrastructure; support system for infrastructure development. Representatives of financial institutions exchanged experiences and discussed issues related to supporting small and medium enterprises, green credit, support industry, renewable energy, transport, electricity ... During the 2nd session on "Financing sustainable infrastructure", VDB Deputy General Director Mr. Dao Van Chien had made a presentation on infrastructure development for road in Vietnam, the case of Hanoi - Hai Phong highway project, and solutions for sustainable development projects ...
At the meeting, the ADFIAP delegations agreed and passed the "Nha Trang Declaration" which included 6 main clauses, namely: Leading the way in environmental governance and management; Mobilizing Funded and Non-Funded Facilities and Accelerating Investments in Sustainable Infrastructure; Initiating Partnerships for Sustainable Infrastructure; Developing Support Systems for Sustainable Infrastructure; Harnessing the Association’s Network for Business Cooperation in Sustainable Infrastructure; Integrating Social and Entrepreneurship Dimensions in Infrastructure Development.
The 38th ADFIAP annual meeting’s working programs consists of the 81st Board of Directors meeting, the 21st ADFIAP General Assembly regular meeting and bilateral meetings have concluded. VDB has had bilateral working with Rusian Bank for Small and Medium Enterprises, the Development Bank of Republic of Belarus and the Export-Import Bank of India to look for cooperation opportunities. VDB and Russian Bank for Foreign Economic Activity (VEB) has singed MoU on cooperate sectors, namely: infrastructure, industrial equipments furniture, means of transport, power and energy development, energy efficiency, clean water supply and sustainable development projectss including those in social security, education, health, environment, SME financing. On the sideline of conference, VDB has had courtesy meetings with credit guarantee Corporation of Malaysia, Thailand Bank for development of SMEs.
At the conference, Vice Prime Minister Mr.Vu Van Ninh and VDB Acting Chairman Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung were awarded campaign medals for their important contributions to ADFIAP. The ADFIAP Board of Directors has held the event "Night of Awards" to honor its member organizations for their outstanding contributions to the social economic development of the country in 2014 . It’s VDB honor to receive two awards from ADFIAP of categories: Environment development – the Bac Lieu wind power farm project and Infrastructure development - the Ha Noi - Hai Phong highway project.
