An agreement to this effect was inked by Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong on March 7 in Ha Noi.
Over the recent years, the Finnish Government assisted Viet Nam in launching projects to modernize the electricity grid at cities and provinces including Da Nang, Quy Nhon and Buon Ma Thuot.
These projects have helped enhance the effectiveness of management, increase the electricity supply, reduce electricity losses and incidents to serve the local socio-economic development.
The Finnish Minister revealed that Finland has provided preferential and non-refundable loans for 20 projects, worth €57 million in Viet Nam in fields of the environment, health care, clean water and energy.
Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Hoang Quoc Vuong expressed his hope that in the time to come, the electricity sector will continue receiving official development assistance (ODA) and preferential credit from the Finnish Government to invest in modernizing the national grid in line with a development roadmap of Viet Nam’s power system.
