Environment (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), Vietnam Development Bank (VDB), carbon market expert, etc.
The workshop focused on analyzing potential as well as barriers to bioenergy development, thereby proposing recommendations to promote bioenergy development in Vietnam.
At the workshop, the leader of the Foreign Loan Department, representing VDB, gave a speech on "Access to international funds and financing bioenergy projects in Vietnam".
At VDB, biomass power projects only account for a small proportion in the loan portfolio for renewable energy projects, for example "The renewable energy plant project from bagasse of Lam Son sugar factory" with capacity of 12.5 MW funded by JICA; "Tuyen Quang Sugar Cane Biomass Power Plant project" with a capacity of 25 MW funded by State investment credit, to mention but a few. Basically, these projects prove high efficiency, helping to reduce thousands of tons of bagasse, producing electricity for sugar factories and supplying energy to the national electricity grid.
VDB's speech attracted the attention of participants when it introduced capital sources at VDB that are ready to finance biomass power projects including the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Promoting Program funded by JICA, Vietnam Climate Change Framework Loan funded by EIB, Green Climate Fund, etc.
