Viet Nam, Japan sign ODA loan agreement to promote green growth

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on March 30 signed an agreement with the Government of Viet Nam, under which Japan will provide Japanese ODA loan for the Program for Green Transformation toward Green Growth and Climate Resilience.

 The agreement was signed by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong and Chief Representative of JICA Viet Nam Office Kobayashi Yosuke.

The objective of the Program is to support the Government of Viet Nam to promote green growth and green transformation and to strengthen climate resilience of Viet Nam through policy dialogue and financial support, thereby contributing to promoting the economic stabilization and development efforts of the country.
This project focuses on three pillars:
(1) Development of institutional frameworks for fiscal and investment incentives to promote GX and green growth
(2) Policy formulation for NDC implementation
(3) Promotion of climate change adaptation measures
Through financial support, the project aims to facilitate improvements in policies related to advancing climate change measures.
It is expected that the loan, worth ¥50 billion, will be fully disbursed by December this year./.
