Bac Lieu wind power Plant gets GE's devices

On Dec 14th 2013, at US Consulate Office in Hochiminh City, Acting Chairman of Board of Management of Vietnam Development Bank, Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung attends and witnesses the signing ceremony of Wind Turbine Supply Contract for the Bac Lieu Wind Power Project - Phase II between Cong Ly Ltd. and General Electric (GE) on official visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry to Vietnam. The ceremony is also attended by US Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. David B. Shear and Chairman of Bac Lieu Province Committee, Mr. Pham Hoang Be.

The phase II of Bac Lieu Winde Power Project has been implemented under the cooperation framework between USEXIM and VDB, which is so-called the credit line of USD 1 billion for the Mekong River Delta Wind Power Strategy. Accordingly, VDB would borrow under the guarantee of USEXIM and onlend to finance the US-contents equipment component and part of local costs. 

Development of clean and renewable energy is currently one of top priorities of US and Vietnam, which has also been considered one of important solutions to eliminate environment erosion and climate change, supposed to pose dramatic impact on Vietnam.  On his visit to Vietnam, Secretary of State John Kerry has announced the financing package of USD 17 million for anti-climate change program of Vietnam. 

According to current regulations, renewable energy development projects (including wind power) are eligible for investment credit from VDB. On Nov 7th 2013, in HCMC, Transaction Center II – VDB and Cong Ly Ltd signed the Development Investment Credit Agreement for the Phase II of Bac Lieu Wind Power Project with total commitment of VND 2,070 billion.
