VDB was led by Mr. Pham Quang Tung – Chairman, Mr. Nguyen Chi Trang – Deputy General Director and staffs from International Cooperation Dept., Treasury Dept., Policy Development Dept attended.
In the meeting, Mr. Hashimoto shared information on Japan macro economy and DBJ’s cooperation activities in overseas including South East Asia countries and Vietnam in particular.
DBJ is 100% state owned bank, which has many similarities with VDB in term of organization’s structure, duties and functions. However, DBJ has its own act of law and has been privatized since 2008. VDB and DBJ have signed MOU on May 5th, 2007.
From VDB side, Chairman Mr. Pham Quang Tung briefly introduced on VDB’s functions, duties as well as key achievement in the past. He also highly appreciated cooperation between two banks since 2006 until now such as technical assistant project namely “ Capacity Enhancement on Infrastructure Financing in Vietnam”, cooperation under framework of being member of Association of Development Finance Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP).
In the meantime, the Chairman also conveyed information on the situation of restructuring in VDB and referred to DBJ‘s experience in term of bank restructuring. In response, Mr. Hashimoto and DBJ delegations enthusiastically shared the hard times which DBJ surpassed such as economic crisis in 2008, tsunami disaster in 2011, etc. and how to recovery, overcome difficulties in order to successfully restructure the bank and effectively operate it currently.
At the end of meeting, both sides strongly believed the cooperation between two banks would be increasingly strengthen, agreed to seeking other cooperation opportunities for making remarkably contribution to two nations ‘s economy growth in the coming time./.
