Under power development master plan approved by the Prime Minister, with an important role in the country’s power development strategy in the North East, the project has a total length of 25.2 km, stretching from 500 kV Quang Ninh substation to Mong Duong Power Plant. It is designed to transmit power from Mong Duong thermo-electric Plants No 1 and 2 with total capacity of 2,000 MW to the national grid, thus creating strong links, ensuring safety and reducing power losses, improving the efficiency of electricity production.
The Quang Ninh – Mong Duong project has a total investment of VND 946 billion of which VND 662 billion is from the State investment credit loan through VDB. VDB’s loan will be used to finance land clearance, construction and equipment costs of the project.
State investment credit loan for this project is one of the Government’s solutions to speed up the implementation of power master plan No VII with the development of the transmission grid. A priority of this program is to promote construction of the 220 - 500 kV voltage power supply in order to improve power supply reliability, reduce power losses, and ensure maximum capacity mobilization of the power plant to safely and continuously provide electricity for the North East in particular and the country in general. /.
