World Bank helps improve health system in 13 localities

An investing and innovating for grassroots health service delivery project, worth US$126 million, is expected to renew the health system and develop grassroots health system during the 2020-2024 period.

The Ministry of Health on August 25 organized a teleconference on launching and agreement signing ceremony of the investing and innovating for grassroots health service delivery project. 

The project aims to invest in constructing 138 commune-level health facilities and upgrading 325 medical stations and 12 district-level medical facilities at 13 localities subject to the project, including Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh, Long An, Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Son La, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri and Ninh Thuan.
Director of the project, deputy head of the department of planning and finance, under the Ministry of Health Phan Le Thu Hang said that the project also heads to improve services for preventive medicine, primary health care, improve health, and improve primary health care and give priorities such as children, mothers, the elderly, people at disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority.
The project, launched within five years, is worth US$126.25 million, of which US$80 million is funded by the World Bank while the non-refundable aid and corresponding capital are valued at US$25 million and US$21.25 million, respectively. 
The host agency of the project is the Ministry of Health and People’s Committees of the 13 localities./.
