The Regional Programming Dialogue brought together National Designated Authorities (NDAs), Accredited Entities (Aes), Delivery Partners (DPs) and other GCF partners in the Asia Pacific region, to aim at : (1) providing GCF policy insights to stakeholders to accelerate their engagement with programs and projects; (2) facilitating exchange of experiences and best practices of participating organizations, (3) identifying and developing climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives, thereby strengthening the impact of the GCF in the region.
The Dialogue included a series of technical discussions and workshops targeting specific topics designed to support programming for both private and public sectors. It also provided matchmaking opportunities for NDAs and AEs with an aim to strengthening partnerships.
The 4-member VDB delegation actively attended the scheduled activities, including thematic discussions on GCF's new policy; presenting and exchanging ideas of project concept notes that VDB is currently engaged (including: Net Zero Climate Resiliency for Children Project; and Modernization of Cau Son – Cau Gam Irrigation System for Climate Change Adaptation Project); cultural exchange activities with participating organizations.
In addition to the official agenda of the Dialogue, VDB delegation attended several bilateral meetings: directly worked with GCF’s sector specialists to receive comments in order to enhance and complete the project concept notes; discussed with GCF experts to accelerate the process of signing the Accreditation Framework Agreement (AMA) as well as the procedures for receiving the readiness supports approved by GCF.
Besides, taking advantage of this opportunity, VDB delegation also discussed with organizations such as UNIDO, IFAD ... to seek cooperation opportunities in the future.
It can be said that this short but effective business trip of VDB delegation at GCF Regional Programming Dialogue with Asia and the Pacific has opened up many opportunities for VDB to implement investment activities in fighting climate change as well as capacity building for VDB in the coming time./.
