Inauguration of A Roang hydropower Plant

The Central power Corporation (EVNCPC) on 19th January, 2016 held an inauguration ceremony of A Roang hydropower plant in A Roang commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province.
The plant has designed capacity of 7.2MW with power supply of about 30 million kWh per year. Of the VND240 billion total investments, Asian Development Bank’s financing represents 65%, which mostly goes for the equipment and construction cost.
A Roang plant is one of four small hydropower plants under the project of renewable energy development, expansion and renovation of the grid for the remote communes financed by ADB and on lent by Vietnam Development Bank according to the Ministry of Finances authorization. Up to date, VDB branch of Quang Nam - Da Nang area has monitored expenditures for 10 packages with a total value of VND108.092 billion.
The overall objective of this project is to promote economic development for poor and mountainous communes by providing energy and durable renewable energy in satisfactory conditions. The A Roang plant’s key task is to supply electricity to people in A Luoi district for their daily life purpuse and for their production. It contributes to create jobs, promote transport infrastructure creating premises for socio-economic development in mountainous areas in Thua Thien Hue province./.
