Participants in the meeting included representatives of the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Construction, Justice, Health, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Government Office, the State Bank of Viet Nam as well as leaders from the provinces of Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.
Among seven projects, three of which were ratified and four ones are prepared to be negotiated with the total capital of around US$300 million, including skills and knowledge for inclusive economic growth program, the second phase of the Greater Mekong Subregion tourism infrastructure for inclusive growth, health human resources sector development program phase 2 and the local health care sector development program.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Minh highlighted that this is the last preferential loans of the ADB for Viet Nam as the nation must get access to less preferential loans from the ADB since January 1, 2019.
He asked ministries, agencies and localities to urgently join hand to complete preparation works and submit to the Government on financial mechanism for these projects this week.
These four projects are expected to be negotiated from September 25-October 10 for the ADB Board of Directors to ratify in November 2018.
Projects sponsored by the ADB and the World Bank in the 2017-2018 phase focus on such necessary areas such as infrastructure development, improvement of higher education, urban development, new rural establishment, investment in health network, and effectiveness of water use for localities affected by droughts./.
