VDB General Director received and had a meeting with KfW's Vietnam Office Director

On the morning of 24 September 2024, at VDB Headquarters, VDB General Director Dao Quang Truong held a meeting with Mr. Daniel Plankermann, Director of KfW’s Vietnam Office.

KfW is one of the world’s leading promotional banks. KfW has been committed to improving economic, social and environmental living conditions across the globe on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the federal states since 1948. In the field of development cooperation, KfW is an important partner of Vietnam in general, and of VDB in particular.
During the meeting, Mr. Daniel Plankermann thanked VDB General Director Dao Quang Truong for taking the time to receive.  He also briefly introduced KfW’s lending products, which include development loans and promotional loans in two main areas: sustainable energy and green sector (such as afforestation and biodiversity). He expressed his pleasure in discussing future cooperative opportunities between the two banks.
General Director Dao Quang Truong, for his part, affirmed the long-standing strategic cooperative relationship between KfW and VDB. He highlighted the effectiveness of the projects utilizing KfW’s funding, which have contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economic development. Mr. Truong expressed his hope that both organizations could pursue several collaborative initiatives, including: 1/ Signing a Memorandum of Understanding to outline future objectives for cooperation; 2/ Mobilizing preferential funding from KfW to invest in projects within the Government’s target programs; 3/ Exploring opportunities for collaboration in green credit; 4/ Re-activating the “Initiative for Climate Change and Environmental Protection” Program, focusing on renewable energy, sustainable energy and environmental protection projects; 5/ Providing technical assistance from KfW to enhance the capacity of VDB staff through exchange and study programs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue discussions on the procedures for implementing these potential cooperative opportunities./.
